Friday's Racing

We'll have to keep this short and snappy. We're being hunted. Women from all over the PP Plaza are dropping to their knees around us. Behave, its not like that, they're trying to propose. Quick, before we get nabbed, here goes. We're expecting top quality action from Kempton, Doncaster and Newbury in the afternoon while in the evening there's competitive racing at Dundalk (AW) and Wolverhampton (AW). Don't forget, we also pay out on disqualified winners and official result on all UK & Ireland races.

Well Out of Toon

Well Out of Toon

The enormity of Kevin Keegan's task at Newcastle became apparent when he was interviewed after their embarrassing loss to Man United. Reading from the match notes he had made during the game, the diminutive boss said as he scratched his head, "It is a lot harder when you are 4-1 down than when you are 4-1 up...." Eh..ok. The silence that followed was excruciating. Having gone ten matches without a win, the Toon manager is already feeling the pressure as they become involved in the relegation battle. As always, Keegan remains optimistic, "We need 40 points (to avoid relegation) this year, and we have got 28." Hhm...that's 12. Will the players get the point and beat Blackburn? Cheltenham Festival

The Prest One Yet!!

The Prest One Yet!!

The problem with the addition of an extra day, is not that the Cheltenham Festival goes on too long, nor that the quality is spread too thin, the problem is now that we know they can actually add more days, four just isn't enough anymore!! So the campaign for a five day festival begins..not now obviously, some time after the 14th of March. Anyway on to some self promotion, we've been Non Runner No Bet since 9am Tuesday 26th on every single race across the four days plus you know us, we're going have specials every day and so much extra content you'll be in danger of missing the action...but don't. To quote a really annoying beer commercial, this is gonna be great!

Connacht v Leinster

Not Conn-vinced!

Not Conn-vinced!

With Leinster currently sitting on top of the Magners League and Connacht propping it up from the bottom, we were surprised to hear that Felipe Contepomi is taking nothing for granted when the two sides meet this week. Apparently the Argentinean has been reading Jimmy Carr’s how-to-be-a-sarcastic-git volume one. “We will treat them with a lot of respect," the out-half said, probably with a wry smile. "We need to be aware of their attacking capabilities on their home ground," he continued. He may not have been joking! The Lions are hot favourites, but without their international contingent they may struggle at the Sportsground. Can Leinster put in a Conn-vinvcing performance and beat their provincial 'rivals'? Given a Red Hand!

Given a Red Hand!

Matt Williams was clearly delighted with his first win as Ulster boss when they beat the Newport-Gwent Dragons in the Magners League. After their convincing 38-13 victory over the Welsh side, the Australian beamed, "If it's like that every week I won't be complaining much." What's that Matt? Playing against fourteen men or scoring six tries? With prop Adam Black receiving a red card early in the second half for violent conduct (punching someone off the ball), the Irish team's task was made a little easier. The win finally lifted the province off the bottom of the league after a disastrous campaign so far. Have the Llanelli Scarlets Red the script ahead of their clash with the province at Ravenhill? Maur Passion Required

Maur Passion Required

Half woman- half-we-don't-know-what- but-she- needs-more-oestrogen Amelie Mauresmo claimed she has been contemplating quitting the sport at the ripe old age of 28. Although she was (allegedly) seen in a cubicle with Martina Hingis recently, the French player says her passion for the game is about the same as her passion for the opposite sex – non existent. "I sometimes ask myself what the hell I am doing, (playing) in front of half-empty stands. In the back of your mind there's always a little something wondering if it wouldn't be better to stop." *sniff, sniff* Pass us a hanky. Her poor form continued this week as she was dumped out of the WTA Dubai Duty Free. Can you win some Maur cash from this week’s tennis matches? Tennis Coupon

Leeds v Melbourne Storm

Stormy Affair

Stormy Affair

Unfortunately for Melbourne Storm, their star player Greg Inglis didn't travel to England for the World Club Challenge match with the Leeds Rhinos. He was continuing his rehabilitation on a shoulder injury in Australia. Well, that's what his coach Craig Bellamy (not the West Ham thug) thought. In Inglis-ese, rehabilitation is another word for 'go down to the pub, get drunk and start a fight'. Which is exactly what the Australian did recently. The stand-off was involved in a fight in a Brisbane pub and suffered some minor injuries. With Inglis and some of their top players missing, will Melbourne weather a Yorkshire storm and beat the Leeds Rhinos? Fri 7.30pm SS1

On a Knife Edge!

On a Knife Edge!

It has gripped a whole nation, if not the world. The race for the Democratic presidential nomination has been intense, and none more so in Jose Ortiz's house in Pennsylvania. A debate over the Democratic nomination race spiralled out of control when Ortiz stabbed his brother-in-law during an argument about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton's credentials. Police told reporters, "Their verbal argument became physical. One began choking the other and it went too far. This is the kind of argument that takes place in households across the region, across the state, across the country, but it never turns violent like this." Needless to say, the victim has since made a full recovery. Is Hillary Clin-ging on to her hopes for dear life?
